TOPSOIL
Topsoil, as the name implies, is the very top layer of soil from this region. It is dense with minerals & organic matter. Topsoil contains beneficial soil microbes that aid nutrient availability & uptake. But the soil is coarse & heavy, owing to its composted matter, clay & rock particles. This means that due to its properties like low drainage & low aeration, it typically requires an amendment before planting. It is a good choice for filling up raised beds, filling in holes in your yard or repairing eroded spots.
SOIL AMENDMENT
Leafgro® is a soil amendment used extensively in gardens and lawns by homeowners and landscaping industry professionals as a source of humus for soil improvement. Yard trimmings such as leaves and grass clippings are diverted from landfills and instead brought to a composting facility, where the material is composted to create a valuable resource. Leafgro® is an outstanding example of recycling at its best!
BULK FIREWOOD
All hardwood and manufactured at our plant in Baker, WV. The product does not contain any pine & the size of the wood is perfect for wood stoves. Our bulk firewood is one of the few available in the region that has been heat treated. The wood is placed in a large oven at 200 degrees until the core temperature reaches 165 degrees. This heat treating ensures that the wood is very well seasoned & has a moisture content of less than 20%. Our heat treating process ensures that wood will burn cleanly & efficiently & will light much easier than unseasoned wood.
